GUTA Association Newsletter (Autumn/Winter 2001)


Environmental Advocacy is the electronic newsletter of the Environmental Law Association of Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States, published quarterly. The Guta Association was named after the first conference held in Guta, Ukraine in 1995. As stated in the charter, the organization actively promotes regional cooperation in public interest environmental law reform and advocacy, while contributing to the protection of the environment as well as promoting the rule of law and increasing participatory democracy. Ecopravo-Lviv serves as GUTA Association headquarters for 2001-2003.

Association of Environmental Law of Central/Eastern Europe and Newly Independent States (GUTA Association)

The purpose of the Association is to promote regional cooperation in public interest environmental law reform and advocacy, while contributing to the protection of the environment as well as promoting the rule of law and increasing participatory democracy


The Association organizes annual conferences for its members. In addition to addressing current, substantive issues of public interest environmental law reform and advocacy in the region, the conferences include the annual meeting of the General Assembly of members.


The Association produces a periodic newsletter for distribution to all members and other interested persons or organizations, and facilitates communication among members through any appropriate means.


The association supports fundraising activities, and other projects in furtherance of the interests of its members, including the support of members in international and national cases before courts of law.
