CITIZENS' ENVIROMENAL RIGHTS:
How to Defend them with the Help of Law

Manual prepared and published with financial assistance from ABA/CEELI for Ukrainian citizens and NGOs that introduce (shows) legal instruments of defending environmental rights of citizens of Ukraine in easy form and explains ways of their application.

Manual consists of two parts; the first is dedicated to the role of public participation in environmental protection, ways of using legal instruments by public for solving environmental matters, the second - practical advises and recommendations on Ukrainian legislation on environmental protection.

Manual includes articles of main Ukrainian and foreign professors of Environmental Law and practical lawyers, commented extracts of Ukrainian environmental legislation, examples in NGOs' activity. Manual is supplemented with the list of environmental legislation of Ukraine, the list of state bodies on environmental protection and samples of documents.

SELECTION
Of International Conventions on Environment 

Selection published specially for the Fifth International Conference of Environmental Lawyers of NIS, Eastern Europe and USA with the financial assistance from ISAR.

It consists of 31 international documents on environmental protection on Ukrainian and Russian languages: The Declaration on Environment and Development and 7 conventions on General Issues, 3 - on Atmosphere and Ozone Layer Protection and Climate Change, 6 - on Water Protection, 7 - on Biodiversity and 7 - on Nuclear and Radiation Safety.

ECOPRAVO
History, projects, cases

Digest of Ukrainian NGOs that provide environmental rights protecting in Ukraine: EcoPravo-Kyiv, Ecopravo-Lviv and EcoPravo-Kharkiv, published in Ukrainian and English languages with the financial assistance from ISAR.

It includes information about projects, cases, publications and history of these organizations.

HOW TO CREATE AN NGO:
Lawyer Advises

Manual on creation of public organization concluded by Svitlana Kravchenko, professor of Environmental Law, member of the Ukrainian Ecological Science Academy and committee on Environmental Law of the World Conservation Union; Anatoly Pohodziaev and Iryna Tustanovska with the technical assistance from ISAR and financial assistance of USAID.

It includes information about what is NGO, its' rights, the procedure of legalization and demands to statues of NGO, bank account opening for NGO.

Manual is supplemented with samples of some documents, placed in the middle of the book so, that they could be used for the preparing documents for the registration

DOORS TO DEMOCRACY

The series of books devoted to the current survey of the institutional framework and practice of public participation in environmental decisionmaking. Those books were prepared and published through a cooperative effort of the Regional Environmental Center, European Bureau and Ecopravo-Lviv.

The serie consists of 4 books (Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Newly Independent States, Pan-European Assessment) and incorporates the reviews on 15 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, 18 countries of Western Europe and 5 countries of the Newly Independent States.

In this way Ecopravo-Lviv was involved into all-European cooperation.

DOORS TO DEMOCRACY

Publication on Russian as a result of "Road to Aarhus" project includes a research of trends and practices of public participation in environmental decisionmaking in five countries of NIS region: Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. Individual country reports were prepared by Aida Iskoyan; Oleg Cherp and Elena Krasney; Illya Trombitsky, Valeriy Lebedev and Julia Tronbitskaya; Olga Razbash; and Irina Tustanovska and Dmitry Skrylnikov (nearly all the authors are public-interest lawyers). 

The regional overview and the preface were prepared by professor Svitlana Kravchenko, the president of ECOPRAVO-LVIV and the coordinator of the project.
